Trailer: ” ELLIS ” New Short Film by JR Starring Robert De Niro

For millions of immigrants entering the United States in the early twentieth century, Ellis Island was the gateway to a new life. Upon arrival, some travelers were approved, but many, due to illness or simply fatigue, were denied access and hospitalized.

Ellis, a fourteen-minute film directed by JR and written by Academy Award winner Eric Roth, tells the elusive story of countless immigrants whose pursuit of a new life led them to the now-shuttered Ellis Island Immigrant Hospital. Following its opening in 1902, approximately 1.2 million people passed through the facility, where the Statue of Liberty can be seen from the windows.

The short film stars Academy Award Winner Robert De Niro, was written by Academy Award winner Eric Roth and directed by the artist JR whose Unframed art installations in the abandoned Hospital complex serve as the set for this powerful and timely film. For everything Tribeca, head over to https://tribecafilm.com and follow us:

Carlos Slim, the richest man in Mexico and one of the wealthiest in the world, dumped Donald Trump following his Racist anti-Mexico rant.

Donald Trump cannot catch a break. Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has become the latest to cut ties with the real estate mogul after his anti-immigrant remarks during his presidential campaign announcement speech.

Telecoms magnate Slim is the world’s second-richest man, with a net worth of around $71.1 billion, according to Forbes. Trump is at number 405 on the list, worth $4.1 billion.

The latest development comes as a television company controlled by Mexican billionaire, Carlos Slim, has cancelled a project with Trump that was said to be worth millions.

This is the third company to cut ties with Trump, who is seeking the Republican nomination for the November 2016 presidential election.

Ora TV, the production company co-founded by Slim and TV personality Larry King and funded by Slim’s America Movil, had been working with Trump for several months on the project.

As a result of Trump’s comments, NBC removed Trump’s “Miss USA” from their programming following in the footsteps of Spanish-language broadcaster Univision, who said it would not air the “Miss USA” pageant.

Macy’s Department stores have also decided to discontinue their business relationship with Mr. Trump and will phase-out the Trump menswear collection, which has been sold at Macy’s since 2004.” Macy’s issues a statement “We are disappointed and distressed by recent remarks about immigrants from Mexico. We do not believe the disparaging characterizations portray an accurate picture of the many Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Latinos who have made so many valuable contributions to the success of our nation.

An Ora TV spokesperson released the following statement,

“Trump was totally out of line…working with someone so closed-minded was not going to work.”

He added that the comments were racist and hurtful.

Lets take a look at who Carlos slim helu is …

Carlos Slim Helu is one of the three richest men in the world, despite changes in the Mexican telecom landscape, where he has prospered greatly over the past two decades. A new anti-monopoly law is driving some of the shifts. In June 2014, he spent $5.6 billion to buy out AT&T’s 8.3% stake in pan-Latin American wireless carrier America Movil — by far Slim’s most valuable asset. He and his children now own 62% of the company. AT&T then became an America Movil competitor in Mexico, when it purchased wireless carrier Grupo Iusacell from Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego in January 2015. Outside of telecom, Slim took private his listed real estate company, Innmeubles Carso, paying minority shareholders $450 million in December 2014. A month later, he became the largest shareholder of The New York Times, with a nearly 17% stake, by exercising warrants to buy more shares. Slim also holds a controlling interest in industrial conglomerate Grupo Carso, financial venture Grupo Financiero Inbursa and infrastructure development and operating company Ideal.

RIP Frankie Knuckles: Fans, artists remember house music pioneer .. The Godfather of House Music was 59 years old.

Frankie-Knuckles

They called him “Godfather of House.” DJ Frankie Knuckles, born Francis Nicholls, died suddenly Monday when he was just 59, leaving fans and fellow DJs to mourn him and memorialize his founding role in house music. Knuckles is associated with the Warehouse, a Chicago club where he played. The scene directly gave birth to the very term “house music.”

Knuckles was born in The Bronx in 1955 and began DJing in New York in the ’70s with Larry Levan. After moving to Chicago in 1977 he played at the famed Warehouse and then his own club, The Power Plant. He remained an integral part of house music throughout the decades, producing seminal records ‘Your Love’, ‘Baby Wants To Ride’ and ‘Tears’ and continuing his DJing career to the present day. In 2004, Chicago named a street after him where the old Warehouse once stood.

Power 105’s Morning Show .. The Breakfast Club show live on .. Revolt .. starting March 31st

The+Breakfast+Club-revolt

Come March 2014, the holy trinity of hip-hop radio will be live daily on the New #1  Name In Music.

THE BREAKFAST CLUB ON REVOLT …..

What is revolutionary to you?

Is it changing predetermined rules and writing your own? Is it overcoming perceived obstacles and emerging victorious in the face of adversity? Or is it finding kindred spirits in assumed competitors and teaming up to win together?

No matter how you define revolutionary, REVOLT is it, and in our nearly two months on the air, we haven’t stopped doing the unexpected.

In keeping with our freshly established tradition, we’re proud to announce our partnership with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment in bringing the nationally-syndicated, award-winning “The Breakfast Club” radio show to REVOLT.

Effective March 31, 2014, the always-hilarious, controversial, and culture-shifting show, which stars hosts Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy, will be televised live on REVOLT every morning from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. EST, and again from 6-9 a.m. PST as an encore for the West Coast.

“Starting our day with ‘The Breakfast Club’ brings three more hours of live daily programming to REVOLT’s already expansive real time coverage of music, music news and culture each day,” says Andy Schuon, President and co-founder of REVOLT, about the partnership.

Since its December 2010 launch on Clear Channel’s Power 105 radio station in New York, “The Breakfast Club” – widely considered among the top urban radio shows on the air today – has enjoyed major success, including being named the No. 1 radio program in the nation by The Source.

Delving into the importance of the partnership between REVOLT and Clear Channel, John Sykes, President of Entertainment Enterprises for Clear Channel says, “Taking this award-winning show and extending its reach to television reinforces Clear Channel position as a preeminent multiplatform entertainment company. We are a company that creates incredible, original content every day and we are excited to partner on this with a true visionary like Sean Combs.”

“Adding radio as a medium to the REVOLT arsenal will help push the traditional boundaries of music on television and expand our reach even further with millions of new listeners and viewers, which is incredible for a fledgling network,” adds REVOLT CEO Keith Clinkscales.

Needless to say, we couldn’t be more excited about the partnership, and can’t wait to see and hear the magic the comedic and curatorial geniuses behind “The Breakfast Club” cook up in the new year. As you wait patiently for March 31, check out the trio’s #IAMREVOLT profile below.

Derek Nichols recently tweeted a poem written by his 14-year-old brother Jordan. Clearly, Jordan, is quite insightful for his young age.

Here’s what the poem said:

Our generation will be known for nothing.
Never will anybody say,
We were the peak of mankind.
That is wrong, the truth is
Our generation was a failure.
Thinking that
We actually succeeded
Is a waste. And we know
Living only for money and power
Is the way to go.
Being loving, respectful, and kind
Is a dumb thing to do.
Forgetting about that time,
Will not be easy, but we will try.
Changing our world for the better
Is something we never did.
Giving up
Was how we handled our problems.
Working hard
Was a joke.
We knew that
People thought we couldn’t come back
That might be true,
Unless we turn things around
(Read from bottom to top now)

Reading from bottom to top, the poem reads:

Unless we turn things around
That might be true,
People thought we couldn’t come back
We knew that
Was a joke.
Working hard
Was how we handled our problems.
Giving up
Is something we never did.
Changing our world for the better
Will not be easy, but we will try.
Forgetting about that time,
Is a dumb thing to do.
Being loving, respectful, and kind
Is the way to go.
Living only for money and power
Is a waste. And we know
We actually succeeded
Thinking that
Our generation was a failure.
That is wrong, the truth is
We were the peak of mankind.
Never will anybody say,
Our generation will be known for nothing.

Poems like this remind us that the future of our society lies in its youth. The fact that such words can come out of a 14-year-old’s mouth demonstrates that today’s youth can be brave and ambitious with big dreams for the world. After all, only by believing you can change the world will you actually do.

CNN reports: ‘ALL LIVES ARE LOST’ Flight 370 went down in the southern Indian Ocean.

7-Theories-Flight-370

Many theories about this tragedy .. prayers go out to all the families that lost love 1’s .. REST IN PEACE

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 went down in the southern Indian Ocean, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said Monday, citing a new analysis of satellite data by a British satellite company and accident investigators.
A relative of a missing passenger briefed by the airline in Beijing said, “They have told us all lives are lost.”
While the announcement appeared to end hopes of finding survivors more than two weeks after the flight vanished, it left many key questions unanswered, including what went wrong aboard the Beijing-bound airliner and the location of its wreckage in the deep, wild waters of the Indian Ocean.
