MultiHop Highlights ‘Empire’ Series Soundtrack 1st to Top Billboard – (watch new music video)

Screen Shot 2015-03-21 at 6.48.52 AMIn the same week that the first season of Fox TV’s musical drama Empire ended, its soundtrack debuts at No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, making it the first TV series soundtrack to crown the 50-year-old list.

 

Empire’s six tracks on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (dated March 28, 2015):
No. 26 – “You’re so Beautiful” featuring Jussie Smollett & Yazz

No. 29 – “Conquerer” featuring Estelle & Jussie Smollett

No. 33 – “Good Enough” featuring Jussie Smollett (Re-entry)

No. 39 – “What Is Love” featuring V. Bozeman (Debut)

No. 40 – “Drip Drop” featuring Yazz & Serayah McNeill (Re-entry)

No. 46 – “No Apologies” featuring Jussie Smollet & Yazz (Re-entry)

 

“You’re So Beautiful” led all of the songs in terms of streams for the week, with 1.4 million domestic clicks, with the majority stemming from Spotify. “What Is Love” was the second-most streamed Empire track, with 1.3 million.

 

 

Terrence Howard & Taraji P. Henson’s “Empire” Tops 20 Million Viewers – Bigger Audience Than “American Idol”

The pilot for the Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson program opened with big ratings numbers.

 Empire was the biggest launch for Fox since 2012. The network has already renewed the show for a second season.

 11.3 million viewers watched the “False Imposition” episode of Empire as compared to 11 million for American Idol.

This is the fourth week in a row Empire‘s audience has increased. Also, the series’ premiere has now reached 20.4 million viewers across all media platforms.

A family drama about a hip-hop business empire from filmmaker Lee Daniels will be part of Fox’s 2014-15 TV season.
Daniels (“Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” “Precious”) is writing, directing and producing “Empire,” starring Terence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, Fox said.
The series will feature original music and covers of current songs.
